Nokia Lumia 800 Hands on Review

Nokia Lumia 800 is first Windows Phone 7 and  now entered the realms of reality, alongside its mid-market sister the Nokia Lumia 710, T3 has gone hands on with the hub and tile based OS touting device to bring you our first hands-on Nokia Lumia 800 review.

Nokia Lumia 800  lining up with a 1.4GHz processor and Carl Zeiss optics bragging camera wrapped within a compact shell, the Nokia Lumia 800 looks set to be the first Windows Phone 7 device to rival the likes of the Android powerhouses such as the Samsung Galaxy S II, HTC Sensation XE and new Motorola RAZR in terms of high-end high-performance specs.

Nokia Lumia 800: Specs and Design

Crafted from injection moulded polycarbonate the Nokia Lumia 800 cuts an impressive visual appearance, lining up at 12.1mm thick the handset feels reassuringly solid in the hand and satisfactory sturdy whilst remaining light, sleek and certainly pocketable. There is also a top notch set of Nokia and Monster Purity HD headphones for personal sound time.

Amply sized without being intrusive the Lumia 800’s 3.7-inch AMOLED ClearBlack curved display is stunningly vibrant with the WP7 OS’s intense colours popping from the screen in crystal clarity. The Nokia Lumia 800 device looks attractive and surprisingly high-end in all three of its black, cyan and magenta colour schemes.

Nokia Lumia 800: Camera

Following a somewhat snappy sampling of the Lumia 800’s rear mounted camera we are initially impressed with the handset’s image capturing abilities. Bright, vibrant images were caught in challenging light conditions ranging from gloomy alcoves to harsh fluorescent lighting.

The Windows Phone 7 handset’s dedicated camera capture button is solid and fluid in use with the metallic finish offsetting the polycarbonate casing well for a stylish, high-end aesthetic.

Nokia Lumia 800: UI

Like all other Windows Phone 7 handsets the Nokia Lumia 800 boasts the standard WP7 operating system and stoic user interface. Little in the way of further innovation on first impressions there is nothing separating Nokia’s long awaited WP7 handset from the likes of the HTC Titan in terms of usability.

Nokia Lumia 800 First Impressions

The Nokia Lumia 800 is on track to become the first Windows Phone 7 device to bother the smartphone market leaders. Bringing the still fledgling OS to the fore, Nokia’s reputation in the consumer market is sure to see this specs impressive handset take the Microsoft OS into new ground.
